On April 8, 2024 - April 12, 2024, at the Medical Laboratory of the Innovation Research Centre, we had the pleasure of hosting Alba Pena, a fourth-year Nursing student at the Biała Podlaska University. John Paul II on an Erasmus exchange from the College of Health of the Portuguese Red Cross Society - Alto Tâmega (Escola Superior de Saúde Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa - Alto Tâmega) in Portugal.

Nursing is a medical field, so the basics of microbiology and genetics as well as a practical field are necessary, and in such a situation we couldn't miss it. During this week, we discussed the principles of good disinfection and sterilization, we cultured microorganisms, performed staining, prepared microscopic preparations, looked at pathogens causing hospital infections and more, isolated DNA, performed PCR RFLP, and interpreted the results.

It was an intense week - but working with such a talented student - it was pure pleasure.
